Terms of Service

By creating a Ridey account or using the Ridey app or website, you agree to these Terms of Service ("Terms"). Please read them carefully.

1. The Ridey platform

Ridey provides a technology platform that connects drivers with spare seats to passengers seeking affordable transport. Ridey is not a transport or taxi company and does not employ drivers. All trips are arranged directly between users.

2. Eligibility

  • You must be at least 18 years old to use Ridey.
  • Drivers must hold a valid driving licence and maintain appropriate vehicle insurance.
  • You must complete identity verification to post or book trips.

3. User conduct

You agree to:

  • Provide accurate information in your profile and trip listings.
  • Treat all other users with respect.
  • Not use the platform for commercial or professional transport services.
  • Not carry more passengers than your vehicle can legally accommodate.
  • Not smoke, use drugs, or engage in illegal activity during a Ridey trip.

4. Payments and fees

Ridey processes payments securely in-app. Drivers set a cost-sharing contribution per seat. Ridey charges a service fee on each completed trip, displayed clearly before booking. Payments are released to drivers after the trip is confirmed complete. Cancellation policies are displayed at booking.

5. Cancellations and refunds

  • Passengers may cancel free of charge up to 24 hours before departure.
  • Late cancellations may incur a fee shown at booking.
  • If a driver cancels, passengers receive a full refund.

6. Safety and insurance

Drivers are responsible for ensuring their vehicle is roadworthy and appropriately insured for carrying passengers. Ridey strongly recommends that drivers check their insurance policy permits carpooling. Ridey does not provide insurance for drivers or passengers.

7. Ratings and reviews

After each trip, both drivers and passengers are invited to rate and review each other. Ratings must be honest and based on the trip experience. Ridey reserves the right to remove abusive or fraudulent reviews.

8. Account suspension

Ridey may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms, receive consistently low ratings, or engage in fraudulent or abusive behaviour.

9. Limitation of liability

Ridey provides the platform "as is". We are not liable for the actions of users, the condition of vehicles, delays, accidents or losses arising from trips arranged through the platform, to the maximum extent permitted by applicable law.

10. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. Continued use of Ridey after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms. We will notify you of material changes by email.

11. Governing law

These Terms are governed by English law and disputes are subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
